Worthington Initiates New Members

Picture
In the up-and-down world of COVID, Worthington Chapter was fortunate to be able to initiate three candidates at the October 14 meeting.
Our new members are shown at left following their initiation:
   Kelly Scott (center), daughter of our Conductress, Suzanne Scott and her husband Brian;
Cora Dorman (right), great granddaughter of the late Jacob Lester Dorman, who had been a member of Mt. Cory Lodge #428, Mt. Cory, OH; and
Evan Willeke (second from right), son of Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron, Crissy and Troy Willeke and brother of the 2020 Worthy Patron, Nicholas.

  Matron and Worthy Patron,
  Crissy and Troy Willeke, was
  installed as the 2020-2021
  State Master Councilor of
  Ohio DeMolay on Sept. 19.
     Although the installation
  ceremonies were closed to
all but a select few, due to
  COVID guidelines, the
  ceremony was available to
  interested viewers on the
  internet.
This will be a busy year for Logan, who also is a sophomore at The Ohio State University.
    Congratulations, Logan!

Installation Surprise!
We were fortunate that, at the time of our October 16 installation of officers, we did not have the strict COVID rules that chapters with November installation dates have been coping with.
Our full corps of officers was installed with poise and finesse by Associate Grand Matron Cindy Chadwell, Grove City Chapter, assisted by Suzanne Scott, Installing Chaplain; Janie Bope, of Brownsville Chapter #486, Installing Marshal; and Barbara Brooks, Grove City Chapter, Installing Organist.
During remarks at the close of chapter, Sister Cindy announced that she was grateful for the support of many members of Worthington during her journey to the Grand East, including Crissy Willeke and Suzanne Scott, who served as Grand Pages in 2020, and Marilyn Braatz, who composed the installation drill that will precede the installation of the 2022 Grand Officers.
And she surprised all by asking our Martha, Sister Jennifer, to to serve as soloist at the installation.  Jennifer said yes!

Worthington Is "Outstanding Chapter"

Picture

Once again, Worthington Chapter was among those who earned "Outstanding Chapter" honors at the 2020 Grand Chapter session.  It is the eighth consecutive year that Worthington has successfully participated in the program.
2020 marks the conclusion of the Chapter Excellence program, which consisted of guidelines for chapter involvement in Charity and Service; Fellowship and Social Activities; Officer Excellence, and Membership and Public Relations.  Worthington was one of 19 chapters statewide who participated all eight years.  The final award for those chapters was a walnut gavel with engraved band, to be used with the chapter sound block awarded in previous years.
This year's guidelines included a list of suggested activities to pursue in light of the pandemic, including community service efforts, and alternate ways to communicate with members and provide care to those who need help.
The Chapter Excellence Awards Program was initiated and coordinated by our own Marilyn Braatz.

Bees are Buzzing!
Cindy's BEE T.E.A.M. Steering Committee has suffered the loss of a number of fundraising meals they had planned to support our Grand Conductress, Cindy Chadwell (Grove City Chapter), so they are asking for donations to their "Bee In The Box" project, to keep Cindy's bees buzzing!  Click HERE for the details on this project, and see how you can support Cindy on her voyage to the Grand East in 2022!
